About us

Stressed Records is a Derby based record label that was set up in 2004 by me, Phil Rhodes. The label is not a full-time job, but takes up a hell of a lot of time - job. If you are interested I am currently a research student at Loughborough University, studying Defamation on the Internet.

The label has been praised by numerous press and radio stations. Huw Stephens, Steve Lamacq, Rob Da Bank (Radio 1), Claire Dickinson, Clint Boon (XFM), JALAL (Popscene - Germany) and Marcelle Van Hoof (Another Nice Mess - Holland), in particular, have supported the label immensely.

Stressed Records brief History:

2004
Stressed Records was formed in February
After many gigs, Stressed Vol 1 was released in September
The Atoms received their first of many airplays on Radio 1 courtesy of Steve Lamacq - 'Don't Wanna Disco' taken from Stressed Vol 1
Volume 1 received excellent reviews (See Press)

2005
Following the success of Vol 1, Stressed Vol 2 was released in September.
Stressed Records was the main feature in Sandman Magazine.
Again a number of Radio Stations picked up on the CD, including massive support from Clint Boon on Revolution Radio and XFM.
Again, the CD proved to push Derby music scene further into the spotlight. (See Press)

2006
February - Dragonflies Draw Flame mini album 'Harboured Safe' was released.
May - Rob Da Bank features the Stressed and the Derby Music scene on his show.
June - Huw Stephens aired Dragonflies Draw Flame's Maida Vale Session on Radio 1.
July - The Atoms "Staying True with..." was released with huge support from Steve Lamacq.
October - Stressed Vol 3 is released, 11 bands off the CD have now been played on Radio 1, mainly because of Stressed Records.
October - Huw Stephens features Stressed Records as his label of the Week.
November - Sandman again feature Stressed Records in their magazine.
November - 'Harboured Safe' released in Japan.
November - Phil presents a feature on Stressed Vol 3 and the Derby music scene on Steve Lamacq's Radio 1 show.

2007
February - YouNoGoDie 'S/T' was released.
July - Swound 'Disco Siberia' single released.

Albums by The Atoms, YouNoGoDie, Swound and Dragonflies Draw Flame are distributed by Shellshock

Volumes 1, 2 and 3 are only available at a few select shops and the Stressed records website.
