"Swound! make the sort of sound you hear in one of those clubs you went into the first time when you were 16, and immediately became hooked" - Sandman
Swound! formed at the tail end of 2005 from the ashes of a number of popular Nottingham University bands. Having no intentions other than giving themselves an outlet from whatever else they were up to, they recorded a demo at a local studio which found its way into the hands of Radio 1 DJs. The impressive airplay for their song "What's Your Poison?" and overwhelming response that this received quickly saw Swound! tipped as ones to watch by Radio 1 DJ's Rob Da Bank, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe. Due to popular demand, they were immediately invited to perform a session for Rob Da Bank at the prestigious Maida Vale studios. In the meantime, Swound! were being asked to play with bands such as Kasabian, The Crimea, Hard Fi, Madness etc and making a name for themselves across the country as an energetic, exciting and entertaining live band.
A year on and Swound! have altered their line up and spent time writing and practising a set of new songs. As a result, they finally find themselves in a position to take advantage of the praise and hype that has been heaped upon them. Founding members and songwriters Joe and Tom Staszkiewicz are joined by their two younger brothers Rowan and Lloyd and their friend Chris Walls. Together, they have just put the finishing touches to their first single, Disco Siberia, a riotous three minute pop punk blast that showcases the frenetic musicianship and quirky lyrical outlook that is quickly becoming their trademark.
